About Pamana ng Lahi

Pamana is the Filipino word for heritage; lahi means race or people. Pamana ng lahi speaks of the things that our ancestors bequeathed to us—their language, ancient knowledge, and cultural traditions. Started in 2018, this project has four components–module development, workshops for high school students, teacher training, resource and web development.

Through a blend of 30 engaging modules—15 focused on language skills and 15 exploring cultural aspects such as food, music, folklore, and history—participants will gain a deeper appreciation of the values and stories that have shaped our heritage. Interactive activities, storytelling, and bilingual multimedia materials bring these topics to life, offering students not only a foundation in language but also a richer understanding of the traditions and wisdom passed down through generations.
UH awarded $64K to expand a Filipino youth cultural program
